• Leaving Anandpur Sahib: After a long siege of around 7 months with lakhs of solders when all the enemy kings of North India was unable to win the Anandpur Forte then they sent offer to Guru Sahib that all Kings are taking oaths of their holy books and will securely let all the people in the forte go if Guru Gobind Singh Ji agree to left the Anandpur Forte, Guru Gobind Singh Ji evacuated the Anandpur Sahib fort on the night of December 20.
• Battle at Sarsa River: While crossing the flooded Sarsa river under the cover of night, the Guru’s family was attacked by Mughal forces, breaking their promise of safe passage.
• The Separation: In the chaos of the flooded river:
• The Guru, the Elder Sons, and 40 Sikhs moved toward Chamkaur.
• Mata Gujri Ji and the Younger Sons (Zorawar Singh & Fateh Singh) were separated and followed Gangu (a former servant) to his village.
The servant in the greed of money and other material things first stole the jewellery of Mata Gujri ji while they were sleeping and when he got exposed then Gangu informed the soldiers of heart less Wajir Khan.
• Mata Sundri Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji moved toward Delhi with other Sikhs.
Saka Chamkaur Sahib (December 21–22, 1704)
The Guru and his 40 Sikhs reached a mud fortress (Garhi) in Chamkaur, where they were surrounded by a massive Mughal army around 10 lakh soldiers.
• The Siege: The 40 Sikhs fought thousands of soldiers in small batches of 5 at a time to prevent the fortress from being stormed.
• Shaheedi of Baba Ajit Singh Ji (Age 18): On December 22, the eldest son entered the battlefield. He fought with incredible skill, eventually falling after killing hundreds of enemy soldiers after their weapons got broken because of instance use. But Guru ji didn’t let a drop of water to come in their eyes. Even they loudly said Jo Waheguru ji ka Kalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh.
• Shaheedi of Baba Jujhar Singh Ji (Age 14): Seeing his brother’s sacrifice, the second son requested permission to fight from their father. He entered the field with equal courage and after killing hundreds of enemy their sword got shattered and they attained martyrdom.
• The Guru’s Departure: On the night of December 22, Pani Pyare requested Guru Sahib that they should go from here as they are last hope of people but Guru Sahib denied. Then because of many requests Guru Sahib make a condition that they will go with Battle call. Then under the command of the “Panj Pyare,” the Guru Sahib left the fort with three Sikhs after giving their Kalgi(Feathered ornament) to one of their Sikh and started Battle call. By listening this call Mugal soldiers come in action and tried to stop Guru Sahib but so many of them got killed and Guru Sahib make their way out of thousands of such soldiers to continue the struggle.
The Arrest & Imprisonment (December 23–25, 1704)
• The Betrayal: Gangu betrayed Mata Gujri Ji and the younger Sahibzade for gold and handed them over to the Mughal officials at Morinda.
• Transfer to Sirhind: They were taken to Sirhind and imprisoned in the Thanda Burj (The Cold Tower).
• The Winter Nights: It was late December. They were kept in the open, freezing tower with no warm clothes or proper food, yet the children remained steadfast.
Saka Sirhind (December 26–27, 1704)
The younger sons were brought to the court of Wazir Khan, the Governor of Sirhind.
• The Courtroom (Dec 26): Wazir Khan offered them wealth, high positions, and safety if they converted to Islam. The Sahibzade, aged 9 and 7, refused, shouting “Jo Bole So Nihaal, Sat Sri Akal.”
• The Verdict: Despite the protest of the Nawab of Malerkotla (who called the execution of children un-Islamic), Wazir Khan ordered them to be bricked alive.
• Shaheedi of Chote Sahibzade (Dec 27): As the wall was built around them, they remained calm, reciting Gurbani. When the wall reached their chests and they remained firm, then suddenly wall got fell with Sahibzade they were unconscious but alive then on the order of Wazir the nerves of their neck were served.
• Mata Gujri Ji’s Sacrifice: Upon hearing the news of her grandsons’ martyrdom, Mata Gujri Ji breathed her last in the Cold Tower. But no one was able to touch them as they were secure by 4 lions. Then Wazir announced in the state that nobody can do their Sanskar. A devotee of Guru Sahib Diwan Todar mall ji offered Wajir Gold Coins to buy land for Sanskar but Wajir asked him to place standing gold coins on the land he want to buy. Diwan Ji done this and brought the land. Then they done the last rites and gave them flames.
But after that Wazir also killed the hole family of Diwan Todarmal Ji with them.
